Vizio brings Facebook Watch to its smart TVs

Facebook Watch has launched on Vizio SmartCast TV sets.

Users in the US will now have access to the fast-growing video app from the social media giant. Facebook Watch promises a personalised TV experience tailored to the user’s interests and social connections across a wide range of subjects including live events, shows, sports, gaming, news and music videos.

Facebook has been quietly growing the service with original content such as Jada Pinkett Smith-hosted chat show Red Table Talk; the recently launched Red Table Talk: The Estefans with Gloria Estefan; Emmy-winning Returning the Favor and Steve Harvey’s talk show STEVE.

Gaming has also become increasingly integral to the platform since Microsoft shut down Mixer and partnered with Facebook in June. The merger has created a more viable competitor to Amazon’s Twitch, with YouTube Gaming also seeing growth in recent months.

Mike O’Donnell, chief revenue officer at Vizio, said: “Bringing Facebook Watch to SmartCast furthers our mission to provide VIZIO customers with direct-to-device access to all of their favorite apps and channels in one place. The Facebook Watch TV app helps connect audiences with content that matches their interests, all from the VIZIO SmartCast home screen.”
