New Apple TV reportedly on the way for 2021

Apple is reportedly preparing to release a new Apple TV set top box.

According to a Bloomberg report, the company is developing a new unit which has a faster processor and an upgraded remote controller. The report adds that Apple is looking to implement a new feature that will make it easier to find the remote easier to find should it go awry.

However, the report cites people familiar with the matter who say that any new Apple TV is unlikely to launch until 2021.

The Apple TV 4K is still a popular device, but has not seen any updates since 2017. This has meant that the company’s aspirations to turn it into something of a games console with its Apple Arcade subscription service has struggled due to outdated components – something which it will hope to fix with the new device.

Elsewhere, the Bloomberg report said that Apple is set to have 75 million new iPhones available when the next generation is released later this year, and that it is preparing a number of devices including enhanced Apple Watches, a smaller HomePod smart speaker and a new slimline iPad Air.

This news comes shortly after a report from the same outlet which claims that Apple is considering extending the free trial to Apple TV+ beyond its current offer of a year.
