Sky Deutschland adds linear TV services to Sky Go

Sky Deutschland has expanded the range of services available via its Sky Go app to include a broad range of linear services including Sky Cinema HD, Sky Atlantic HD, Sky Sport and Sky Sport Bundesliga.

The Sky Go service also includes a number of channels from partners such as Fox, TNT Series, National Geographic and 13th Street, and all of the public broadcast channels of ARD, ZDF, Arte and 3Sat.

In all Sky Go now offers over 40 live-streaming channels, according to Sky, with this number set to expand to over 100 by the end of June.

The only linear offerings previously included in Sky Go were the Sky Sport channels.

Live channels in HD quality can be chosen via the channel list on the app, which can also be used to programme recordings on the Sky+ and Sky Q set-tops.

The latest additions follow a revamp of the Sky Go app with a new user interface and additional features. Since April 1, Sky Go users have also been able to access content from the app across the EU, in line with new content portability rules.

Subscribers to the Sky Q service, which was launched in Germany and Austria at the start of this month, can view their subscription on two mobile devices with Sky Go.

Julia Laukemann, SVP of product management at Sky Deutschland, said that the addition of over 100 linear channels as well as an extensive VOD offering and new features meant that customers now had access to “the best Sky Go ever” with a range of movies, entertainment and sports programming at home or on the move.
