Cyfrowy Polsat unveils new 4K DUO hybrid 4K set-top

Cyfrowy Polsat, the Polish pay TV operator that is to change its name to Polsat Box from September, has unveiled a new hybrid connected 4K set-top that will be a core part of the new offering.

The new box comes with what Polsat describes as ‘DUO’ functionality, meaning it can be connected to satellite, IPTV or the internet to receive streaming content. The company says this is the first time such a box has been marketed in Poland.

The box also provides access to the new Polsat Box Go app and online access to over 100 channels some thematic TV packages.

The device, which is operated by a Bluetooth remote control and comes with built-in WiFi, can be connected to both a satellite dish and IPTV via the Plus fixed line network as well as the fixed-line networks of operators Netia and Orange, provided they can supply a minimum speed of 8Mbpso for HD standard channels and a minimum of 25Mbps for 4K channels.

“Our new 4K set-top box is elegant, extremely modern and equipped with many fantastic features that will provide our customers with many amazing possibilities and new experiences,” said Maciej Stec, vice-president of the management board of Cyfrowy Polsat and Polkomtel, operator of the Plus network, Polsat Plus Group.

“Content in 4K quality, DUO functionality, the Bluetooth remote control, Wi-Fi connectivity, and the Polsat Box Go application means even greater freedom in accessing entertainment in the highest quality and the freedom to choose what, when, where and how to watch – in line with our the new slogan ‘You rule. Choose everything’.”
