TiVo and Motive TV have separately added new mirroring updates to their platforms in the US market, enabling users to view content on Apple TV devices and Google Chromecast dongles respectively.
TiVo has added support to Apple TV to three of its DVR models, meaning that TiVo Stream, Roamio Plus and Roamio Pro users can now use the TiVo iOS app to mirror their recordings to an Apple TV.
The upgrade is part of version 3.6 of TiVo’s iOS app. The move enables TiVo users to view recorded content on Apple TV devices.
Separately, Technology provider Motive Television has updated its TabletTV US apps to allow TableTV users with Chromecast devices to cast what they are viewing on their tablets directly to their TV screens.
The new iOS and Android updates are available to TabletTV US users at the Apple and Google Play app stores respectively.
“The ability to share a movie or TV program with the family by casting it to the large screen is a very attractive feature that Motive wants to make available to our users. We are pleased to have successfully integrated the Google Cast capability into the TabletTV US apps and extend TabletTV to the large screen. This is particularly attractive to cord cutters as well who might watch broadcast network TV on their television,” said Motive CEO Len Fertig.
