Premier Sports scoops up UEFA competition rights for Ireland

Premier Sports Viaplay-owned Premier Sports will be the home for UEFA European Club Football in the Republic of Ireland for three seasons commencing in August 2024.

The new agreement follows success in a recent media rights process, conducted by TEAM MarketIng on behalf of UEFA, in Ireland.

Premier Sports has been successful in securing premium rights across all the major UEFA club competition properties for three seasons 2024-27.

In the case of the UEFA Champions League, Premier Sports will have first match choice, on all platforms, on Tuesday nights in the Republic of Ireland.

Premier Sports will also have first choice on Wednesday nights and will also broadcast the UEFA Champions League Final. Premier Sports will also carry live coverage of the UEFA Champions League Opening Tournament and/or Super Cup.

Premier Sports will have rights to highlights of all matches played in the UEFA Champions League on all nights of competition and access to the UEFA Champion League magazine programme.

Premier Sports has also won the rights in the Republic of Ireland to the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Europa Conference League as well as live coverage of the finals in both competitions. Premier Sports will therefore have access, and responsibility for match coverage, to any team from the Airtricity League that qualify for either UEFA competition.

In addition, Premier Sports will have coverage of all highlights from all matches in both competitions and accompanying magazine programming.

Founder of Premier Sports Michael O’Rourke said: “We are delighted to have secured such a comprehensive suite of rights in this process making Premier Sports the destination channels for UEFA’s premium club competitions from August next year. The UEFA European club competitions are appointment to view for the Irish sporting public and we look forward to providing compelling and engaging coverage of these premium events.”
