Spanish top flight football league La Liga will live stream a match on Amazon-owned platform Twitch for the first time.
La Liga and Gol will show the Basque derby between Real Sociedad and Athletic Club in Spain on Wednesday April 7 through their respective official Twitch channels. Popular streaming personality Ibai Llanos will also cover the match, providing his own commentary.
The league becomes the first major European football league to show a live match on the streaming service in Spain.
The derby will also be viewable in the country through the usual means on GOL and via national operators Movistar, Vodafone, Orange and Telecable.
This announcement comes at a time when Twitch is increasingly looking to expand its base outside of its core gamer audience. In the UK, Amazon experimented with its EPL rights on Twitch last year, while the platform also agreed a high-profile deal with popular YouTuber TrueGeordie to bring its weekly football panel show The Kick Off exclusively to Twitch.
