Movistar+ adds Mediaset España’s Mitele Plus to offering

Telefónica’s Movistar+ has struck a deal with Mediaset España to offer the latter’s streaming service Mitele Plus via its set-top boxes.

The moves will enable Movistar+ customers to view content including La Isla de las Tentaciones, Supervivientes and La que se avencina in addition to movies such as Goya-award winning Adú as well sports including European Cup football, the Copa del Rey, the UEFA Nations League and Eurobasket 2022 basketball.

Mitele Plus has recorded some three billion cumulative video views and 2.5 million monthly unique users on average through 2020. The service also enables viewers to watch Mediaset España’s linear TV channels as well as the group’s VOD content on multiple devices.

Movistar+ said that Mitele Plus would be integrated in a way that enabled its subscribers to search for content in the same way that they currently search for Movistar’s own content. Titles will be available direct from the search function without the need to open the application separately.

Consumers new to Mitele Plus can sign up for the service via the Movistar+ platform from the ‘other subscriptions’ section of their account.

Mitele Plus will initially be available to Movistar+ subscribers with UHD set-tops, of which there are currently 1.3 million in circulation in Spain.
