The HbbTV Association is a global initiative promoting an open standard for the delivery of advanced interactive TV services.
The new members of the group are: ARRIS (now part of CommScope), Irdeto, DATV, Enensys Technologies, Fluendo, Samba TV and SmarDTV Global.
“We are excited about so many diverse and significant industry players joining the HbbTV Association. It is a further confirmation that HbbTV is really a focal point where the TV experience of the future is being prepared, and we are glad to see these companies come to shape it with their peers,” said Vincent Grivet, Chair of the HbbTV Association.
HbbTV has been adopted in 36 countries around the world. Over 300 applications on more than 44 million consumer devices are using the open specifications to add features such as interactive services, OTT offers or targeted advertising to linear TV channels.
With the new members, the HbbTV Association’s membership base rises to more than 75 companies from all areas of the broadcast and broadband industry.
