Scottish commercial broadcaster STV has struck partnerships with Flame Distribution and Jukin Media to provide additional content for its video-on-demand service STV Player.
Jukin Media owns and operates online brands including FailArmy, The Pet Collective, and People Are Awesome, providing short-form content online and on social media platforms, while Flame Distribution is an international distributor of factual, unscripted and documentary content representing more than 140 independent producers from around the world. Programmes which will air on STV Player include Recipes That Rock and Grand Tours of Scotland.
The additions follow a strategic decision taken by STV last year to create a a dedicated digital division to drive growth through the STV Player. The broadcaster recently added content from Eleven Sports, Hopster and Little Dot Studio to the platform.
STV also recently launched STV Player+, a new ad-free VOD service for Scots at home and abroad. In addition to Scottish content, the service includes popular ITV shows such as Coronation Street and Britain’s Got Talent.
Richard Williams, STV’s managing director, digital, said: “Flame and Jukin Media offer hugely popular programming and content, and we are delighted that, through these partnerships, we are able to further enhance our offering to STV viewers.”
