Sky Germany will start launching HBO series on the same day they go out on the premium cabler’s domestic service.
The day and date movestarts with the new, fifth, season of Game of Thrones on April 12, but will extend to all upcoming HBO series.
The initiative means that new seasons of Veep, True Detective and Cinemax series The Knick will also run day and date in Germany.
As well as being available on linear in Germany, the HBO fare will also be on the on Sky Go, Sky online and Sky Anytime on-demand and TV everywhere services.
“Drama fans will not have to wait for their favorite series, and the new HBO series will come at the same time to Sky as in the US,” said Peter Schulz, Sky Germany’s vice president of On Demand.
Sky has an output deal with HBO and launched an HBO content-skewed channel in March 2012.
