Netflix adds social recommendations to Android

Netflix has added its social recommendations feature to the Netflix app for Android phones, letting users privately endorse content to friends and family.

With the update, Netflix is also adding push notification capabilities, images and action buttons to its Android app to let users watch, get more info, or thank a friend for a recommendation.

A new ‘Android Wear’ integration will also alert Android smartwatch users when they receive a recommendation.

Netflix first launched its new social recommendations feature for the Netflix website, iPad, iPhone, PS3, Xbox, and a number of set-top boxes and smart TVs in September.

This lets users send recommendations and messages to friends, which that person will receive next time they log into Netflix – without the message appearing publically on Facebook.
