UK marketing body for commercial TV, Thinkbox, has appointed Channel 5’s head of planning and insight, Matt Hill, as its research and planning director.
Hill will take up the post in early 2015, reporting to Thinkbox’s CEO Lindsey Clay. He will be responsible for Thinkbox’s research and planning teams and will also take a seat on the Thinkbox board.
Hill will replace Neil Mortensen, who is leaving Thinkbox to become director of planning and research at ITV.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Thinkbox at this exciting time. TV is offering audiences their best ever viewing experience, and continuing to enable advertisers to emotionally connect with them on an unrivalled scale,” said Hill.
“However, the lure of short-term, easily countable media has made the role of Thinkbox more important than ever. I can’t wait to continue their great work, demonstrating TV’s unique ability to build long term return on investment for brands.”
Hill first joined Channel 5 in 2006. He is the broadcaster’s representative on the BARB board and was named head of planning and insight in 2010.
Before joining Channel 5 he had roles at Virgin Media and entertainment industry research firm, Attentional.
