Belgacom-owned Luxembourg mobile service provider Tango has tapped TV technology provider Rovi to supply TV listings and video-on-demand data for its IPTV service.
The agreement between Rovi and Tango is an extension of a previous agreement with Belgacom for entertainment metadata for its Belgacom TV service on pay TV, web and mobile platforms.
Rovi will provide entertainment data enabling Tango to enhance its service with descriptive information and graphics allowing its customers to discover, navigate and search for TV shows and on-demand movies. The expanded data service includes TV programming and VoD movies including over 100 channels, according to Rovi.
“At Tango, we look at the quality of our service as the main reason consumers choose us over our competitors,” said Dan D’Aversa, entertainment and TV director, Tango. “We want to fuel an engaging entertainment experience for our subscribers as they discover even more of the TV shows and videos they love. We’re using Rovi data to help us unveil and merchandise our TV service and video content library.”
Tango has over 246,000 customers, representing 40% of the mobile telephony market in Luxembourg.
