YouTube to take charity donations option global

YouTube is due to launch ‘donation cards’ outside of the US, allowing site users to easily donate money to non-profit organisations.

YouTube recently started rolling out donation cards to its US content creators, who can add these to videos so that viewers can click to donate money to registered charities and non-profits.

“We’re excited to take this first step and look forward to expanding into other countries so creators across the world can power nonprofits they care about,” said YouTube in a blog post.

“YouTube has over a billion users. That’s almost one-third of all people on the Internet. And everyday those users watch hundreds of millions of hours of video, racking up billions of views – which are now billions of opportunities to do good.”
