DAZN nets WTA rights for Portugal until 2026

DAZN has extended its broadcasting rights to Women’s Tennis Association (WTA ) for Portugal through to 2026.

The sports streaming powerhouse will air a total of 52 tournaments on the women’s tennis world circuit, with full coverage of the WTA Finals and WTA 1000.

In the renewed agreement, DAZN will also broadcast the two new categories of tournaments – WTA 500 and WTA 250. It will show at least the quarter-finals, semi-finals and singles final from the WTA 500. While, for the WTA 250, the semi-finals and singles final will be broadcast.

The stages of the women’s tennis world circuit will broadcast live on DAZN platforms, with commentary in Portuguese.

The WTA 500, the first tournament of the tennis competition, kicks off today with the quarter-finals. The WTA 250 is also taking place this week, featuring defending champion Coco Gauff. DAZN will also broadcast the semi-finals and final of this tournament this weekend.

WTA recently partnered with pay TV operator Sky Sports to broadcast the tennis tour exclusively in the UK and Ireland, Italy, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, as well as non-exclusively  in Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, and South Tyrol. Canal+ Group also acquired WTA rights in Czech Republic and Slovakia until 2028.

DAZN is scheduled to broadcast 12 games from the The WTA 500 Brisbane and WTA 250 Auckland tournaments through to Sunday January 7.
