Xumo to launch Pioneer Xumo smart TVs with Best Buy in US

XumoXumo, Comcast’s streaming and technology joint venture with Charter Communications, is to launch its own range of Pioneer-co-branded smart TVs that will be exclusively available via Best Buy stores in the US.

The new range will sit alongside Hisense-made Xumo TVs, but the range of models from Pioneer and the strength of their retail presence is likely to be greater. Hisense Xumo TVs are currently available in select retail locations and online in 55” and 65” models.

Comcast said that the first Xumo TVs will launch in Best Buy stories and on the BestBuy.com website in November.

Pioneer Xumo TVs feature a UI that enables users to browse content from across their streaming apps at one time and universal voice search.

Pioneer Xumo TVs will be available in 43”, 50”, 55” and 65” 4K models and will support Dolby Vision HDR and HDR10 technology.

Other features include My List, which enables users to create a personalized playlist to save and quickly access shows or movies from across apps and services right from the home screen.

The company says its UI provides seamless access to recently viewed apps, services, content, HDMI inputs, and over-the-air channels on the first row of the home screen, along with a curated interface that combines automated suggestions with editorial recommendations.

“Our partnership with Best Buy represents a great step forward for consumer choice. Soon, consumers looking for an affordable and innovative smart TV will have a compelling new option in Pioneer Xumo TVs,” said Stephanie Cassi, SVP, sales and marketing at Xumo.

“We’re focused on removing the complexity that’s come with the rise of streaming, enabling consumers to get back to enjoying their TV experience.”

Xumo comprises three primary lines of business: Xumo devices, Xumo Play and Xumo Enterprises. Xumo Play offers a range of FAST and AVOD services.
