Finland’s Elisa names Finnair boss as new CEO

Finland-based service provider Elisa has named Topi Manner as its new CEO.

The appointment follows the decision of Veli-Matti Mattila, Elisa’s CEO since 2003, to retire from Elisa.

Manner is currently the CEO of Finnair Oyj. He is also a member of the Elisa’s board of directors, from which position he is stepping down immediartely. Elisa’s board now has seven members.

Manner will start in the position of CEO of Elisa on 1 March 2024 at the latest.

Mattila has meanwhile informed the company’s Board of Directors that he will retire when the new CEO starts in the position, also on 1 March 2024 at the latest.

Elisa said that during Mattila’s long career as CEO, it has grown into a market leader in its field and a pioneer for the telecommunications industry, and has developed into a modern software and service company.

Elisa’s Board of Directors thanked Mattila for his long for his successful steering of the company in the fast-developing digital world. It said that under Mattila’s leadership, Elisa has created a continuously evolving culture of excellence and has achieved results beneficial for Elisa’s customers, employees and owners, all enjoying the industry’s best shareholder value creation.
