TalkTalk taps Netgem for new 4K box and TV offering

UK service provider TalkTalk has launched its new 4K TV box in partnership with technology and service provider Netgem with an offer designed to undercut its main competitors.

The TalkTalk TV 4K Box is available on new and existing fibre plans, offering a selection of UHD services for just £4 a month.

Customers can access more than 70 channels and on-demand players through the Netgem TV interface, with apps and streaming services like Netflix and Prime Video also available.

TalkTalk has also staked its claim to be the first ISP in Europe to launch TikTok on a set top box.

The service providers said that, combined with its Fibre 65 package, the 4K TV Box will deliver a transformed in-home multiscreen entertainment experience for £4 extra a month, saving TalkTalk TV customers up to £216 over 18 months on a BT, Sky or Virgin Media contract.

Additional features include universal search functionality, compatible with Alexa, enabling customers to search for TV or movies across services.

Jonathan Kini, managing director of TalkTalk consumer and direct business, said: “Our priority is to ensure we provide the best entertainment and fibre packages on the market, at great value. That’s why we’re delighted to partner with Netgem to release the TalkTalk TV 4K Box – bringing next level entertainment to our customers and easy access to TikTok, Netflix and Prime Video.”

Sylvain Thevenot, chief commercial and customer officer for Netgem, said: “We are very pleased that Netgem TV is the first TV service in Europe to bring TikTok to the large screen: adding the fastest growing video service to the living room, starting in the UK with TalkTalk, is a not only a testament to our agility, but also at the heart of our positioning of always bringing the most relevant content to consumers without having to systematically pay more.”
