ProSiebenSat.1 and Discovery streaming joint venture Joyn has unveiled its premium offering, Joyn Plus+, which will be available to viewers for a subscription of €6.99 a month.
Joyn Plus+ is kicking off with a promotional offer for viewers who sign up before the end of the year of one month free and a charge of €3.99 a month for the subsequent three months. The €6.99 fee is €1 cheaper than Netflix’s basic offering.
The premium version of Joyn – the free offering launched in June – will provide an extended range of 61 linear channels as well as HD versions of six pay TV services, according to local reports. The pay TV offerings are ProSiebenSat Fun, Sat.1 Emotions, Kabel Eins Classics, Animal Planet, Discovery Channel and Eurosport 2.
ProSiebenSat.1 is also integrating content from its previous Maxdome streaming offering into Joyn Plus+.
The premium service will also feature download-to-view and other advanced features from next year.
Speaking to analysts after ProSiebenSat.1 posted its Q3 numbers earlier this month, CEO Max Conze said that the free version of Joyn had made “not a bad start” and he was confident the company could achieve its target of 10 million monthly active users in closer to one rather than two years.
