Alchimie to launch SVOD app for Proximus mobile users

Content aggregation and distribution outfit Alchimie has struck a deal with Belgian telco Proximus to provide its Watch-It! SVOD and linear offering to Proximus’ six million mobile customers.

Proximus customers will be able to access a range of SVOD channels via the Watch-It! app, Alchimie’s proprietary video streaming platform. Subscribers can view Watch-It! channels via iOS and Android devices with subscriptions charged direct to their mobile bills.

The deal marks Alchimie’s debut of its service in Belgium, bringing SVOD channels ONtv, Humanity, Speed & Race, Big Name, Extreme Sports, TapasTV and Fight Club, with about 17,000 hours of content and a range of linear channels from 250 partners, to Proximus mobile customers.

Alchimie already provides its app in the UK, France, Spain and Germany, with service provider partners that include EE, Vodafone, Orange, O2 and T-Mobile and availability on iOS, Apple TV and Android TV devices.

Bert Maetens, carrier billing partner manager at Proximus said: “Proximus is delighted to introduce its customers to Watch It!’s fantastic range of themed entertainment SVOD channels. The channels are designed to appeal to subscribers’ passions and interests, with carefully selected programming.  The Watch It! content is currently not available in Belgium, so we’re happy to have a bit of a first mover advantage and we are confident it will get a great reception. These SVOD channels are a great complement to the premium SVOD services we already offer to our subscribers Besides, the premium user experience offered by the Watch it! app, is a perfect fit into our strategy to provide high quality content in a premium environment.”
