UK hybrid IP/broadcast digital TV platform YouView is now present on over three million set-top boxes and digital devices across the UK, according to the organisation.
The passing of the three million milestone comes seven months after YouView upgraded its software across its set-top box base.
The YouView platform is used by BT, Talktalk and Plusnet for their TV offerings in the UK. It is also present on Sony’s Android TVs. Plusnet, BT’s low-cost brand, launched a YouView-based TV offering two years ago, available to its fibre customers.
YouView recently announced that it was one of three TV platforms globally to collaborate with Amazon on the video skills application for its Alexa smart assistant to create a voice-controlled TV experience.
“We are delighted to have passed this important landmark, which reflects the talent of our team and commitment of our shareholders and customers. Through our Cloud enabled interface, we are offering continuous improvements to the user experience through new functions and content, making it simple and easy for them to watch the content they love. The focus is how we create the viewing experience of tomorrow today – YouView receives 350 million data points a day from its devices and we can use this insight to continue to be at the forefront of innovation in our field,” said YouView CEO Richard Halton.
