Scottish broadcaster STV’s City TV channels will be bumped up the Freeview TV guide, following BBC Three’s move to online-only.
Under the changes, STV Edinburgh and STV Glasgow, which are currently listed on the Freeview electronic programming guide (EPG) at position 23, will move up to channel number 8.
STV’s planned City TV channels for Aberdeen, Ayr and Dundee will also launch at this slot when they go live in 2017. STV claims the additional three license areas will result in some 80% of Scotland being served through the City TV Freeview footprint.
“This is fantastic news – with our City channels in a more prominent position, new viewers from across Scotland will now get the opportunity to enjoy more of STV’s trusted local news and magazine programmes along with our great mix of new and classic drama and entertainment,” said STV’s director of channels, Bobby Hain.
