Telefónica’s Movistar+ secures basketball rights

Telefónica has signed a deal with the Spanish Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto (ACB) to secure rights to Liga Endesa basketball for the next three seasons for its Movistar+ service.

The rights include Liga Endesa games, the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa Endesa.

Sports channel Canal+ Deportes will broadcast four live games from the Liga Endesa each day, along with three games on Sunday afternoon and additional coverage of a match on Sunday evening. The games will also be made available on-demand via the Yomvi OTT service on devices including PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone, Samsung and LG smart TVs, Android tablets and phones, and PS3, PS4 and Xbox 360 games consoles.

Movistar+ also holds the rights to NBA and Euroleague basketball.

The rights cover the 2018-18 seasons.
