Netflix adds kids originals

netflixNetflix is to add seven new original series aimed at older kids, taking the total number of Netflix original series on the SVoD platform to over 35.

Netflix will launch all new stories from Lego Bionicle and Lego Friends, beginning with Lego Bionicle: The Journey to One and Lego Friends: The Power of Friendship, and the service will also air DreamWorks Animation’s family sitcom Dawn of the Croods.

Other shows new to the streaming platform, aimed at ‘tweens’ and teenagers, include live action show Lost & Found Music Studios, action comedy Buddy Thunderstruck, anime-inspired Glitter Force and Mexican animation series Las Leyendas.

“Roughly half of our 65 million members around the world regularly watch kids content and with the addition of these seven diverse original series we are continuing our strong investment in kids programming,” said Andy Yeatman, director of global kids content for Netflix. “We know kids love Netflix and that’s in part because they never really outgrow us. We programme and recommend new TV shows and movies from preschool through their teen years and into adulthood.”
