OpenTV and Nagravision sue Apple for patent infringement

OpenTV and Nagravision, both subsidiaries of digital security firm Kudelski Group, have filed a lawsuit against Apple, claiming it infringes five of their US patents.

The action, filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, alleges that the infringing products and service include iOS mobile devices, Apple TV, App Store, iTunes, iADs, Safari, and OS X-based personal computers.

San Francisco-headquartered OpenTV provides software for advanced program guides, video-on-demand, personal video recording, interactive and addressable advertising and a variety of enhanced TV applications.

Nagravision meanwhile provides security and multiscreen user experience solutions for monetisation of digital media.

Kudelski Group is listed on the Swiss Stock Exchange and holds more than 4,400 issued and pending patents worldwide.
