French service provider SFR has launched a hybrid set-top box for linear broadcasts and online streaming, that will offer Google services for smart TVs.
The box will be powered by Marvell’s Armada 1500 Plus system-on-chip – a media processor designed for a wide range of smart video products.
SFR executive vice-president Frank Cadoret said that the deployment marked the first time a service provider in Europe has offered consumers Armada 1500 Plus-powered Google TV services.
“Offering set-top boxes with Google services will further allow us to differentiate our services, while giving subscribers a powerful and enhanced entertainment experience in today’s digital home,” said Cadoret.
