BT Sport looking for more rights

BT Sport could bit for a wider range of sports rights, potentially including the Champions League football rights currently shared between BSkyB and ITV, according to BT CEO Gavin Patterson.

Speaking at the Leaders in Football event, Patterson said he was satisfied with the BT Sport platform’s progress to date but that there was much more BT Sport could do in terms of acquiring rights. He said BT looked at all rights and that there was “nothing special” about Champions League rights. Patterson said there were other rights available that BT would consider.

Patterson said he believed BT Sport could “coexist with Sky” and that BT’s long-term aim was to make itself “an immovable part of the broadcasting landscape”.
