Virgin Media is expanding its HD line-up with the addition of UKTV’s five HD channels.
The UK cable operator will soon add Eden HD, Good Food HD, Watch HD and Dave HD to its platform, with Alibi HD to follow next year. This will take Virgin Media’s high-definition offering to 37 channels of which 24 will be available to its XL TV package customers for no extra monthly HD fee.
Virgin Media is also adding UKTV’s time-shifted channels Eden +1 and Yesterday +1 to its line-up.
Virgin Media recently sold its 50% stake in UKTV to US channel operator Scripps in a deal worth £339 million (€393 million).
