RTL chief executive Gerhard Zeiler says the pan-European broadcaster has not inked a deal with Hulu because the online video site would not allow it to sell its own advertising.
Speaking at the RTS conference in Cambridge in the UK, Zeiler said that the disagreement over advertising had hampered Hulu’s planned international expansion.
“Hulu came to Europe and after two years they have not done any deal because all the broadcasters have said ‘we won’t let you turn our euros or pounds into cents,” Zeiler told delegates.
