Akado to enter mobile market

Russian cable operator Akado plans to enter the mobile market by launching as an MVNO on Tele2’s network, according to local reports.

According to the reports, Akado president Sergei Nazarov has unvield plans to launch mobile service sunder its own brand by the end of this year as part of a campaign to address churn in its subscriber base.

Akado plans to test the mobile service this year and to connect a few thousand customers in 2019. Akado, which has about 670,000 fixed internet and TV customers, will face strong competition in the mobile market from a number of existing players including Rostelecom, which also operates on the Tele2 network, MGTS and TransTelecom.
