Vine co-founder launches new video service called Hype

Hype_screen696x696Vine co-founder Rus Yusupov launched a new mobile video service in the same week that Twitter announced it was shutting down the short-form video app.

Live video broadcasting service, Hype, launched on the App Store for iOS devices last week, just days before Twitter said it was pulling the plug on Vine.

Hype lets users make live video broadcasts and notifies followers who can comment and interact with the broadcast – similar to Facebook Live or Twitter-owned Periscope.

Other features included in Hype are the ability to: add photos, videos, music and gifs to a live broadcast; create themed and customisable backgrounds for videos; replay a broadcast once it has finished; and share Hype broadcasts on Twitter.

Intermedia Labs, a company that Yusupov co-founded last year, is behind Hype.  Twitter bought Vine for a reported US$30 million in 2012.
