MTG gets new ice hockey deal 


Modern Times Group has extended a deal for free and pay TV rights to the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship throughout the Baltic region.

The deal, which also includes mobile and digital rights, has been extended until 2017. MTG will carry 20 games from the tournament on its free channels in the region and 50 on the Viasat Sport Baltic premium pay TV service.

Hans-Holger Albrecht, president and CEO of MTG, said: “This is the marquee international ice hockey right and one of the most popular sports events in the Baltics. It has consistently delivered high ratings on our free TV channels, and been a key property in our expanding portfolio of pay TV sports rights.”
