SkyShowtime hires ex-Netflix exec Juan Mayne as regional content director for Iberia

European streaming service SkyShowtime has recruited former Netflix lead Juan Mayne as regional content director for Iberia.

Mayne will be based in the Madrid hub of the Paramount and Comcast joint venture, where he will report to newly appointed chief content officer, Kai Finke who also joined from Netflix.

In his new role, the exec will be tasked with leading content acquisitions and original programming with overall responsibility for productions across the Iberian region.

He joins the programming team comprised of Edyta Pytlewska-Mele, regional content director for Central and Eastern Europe, and Fredrik Ljungberg, regional content director for Northern Europe, including the Netherlands and the Nordic markets.

During his tenure at Netflix, Mayne served in a number of roles such as director of content, co-pros and acquisitions across Spain, Portugal, and Latin America, and as head of film for Spain. At the streaming giant he collaborated closely with AtresMedia on bringing the hit series La casa de papel (Money Heist) to the platform and spearheaded the development of Spanish original films, including A través de mi ventana (Through My Window).

Prior to this, he held stints at The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros. and the Hearst corporation. Mayne is also the founder of the production company N&L Films.
