ARD and ZDF to broadcast international games of Germany’s national football team

German’s broadcasters ARD and ZDF has won the exclusive broadcasting rights to Germany’s national football international matches for both the men’s and women international matches in the country. 

SportA, the joint sports rights agency for ARD and ZDF, secured the deal with the German football body DFB on the acquisition of exclusive rights to all women’s international matches until 2027, and with the UEFA on the acquisition of exclusive media rights to men’s international matches until 2028.

ARD and ZDF have acquired all exclusive live broadcasting rights for all DFB women’s international matches from 2023 through to 2027.

The rights include matches of the new UEFA Women’s Nations League as well as the qualifying and preparatory matches for UEFA EURO 2025 and the FIFA World Cup 2027. While, the agreement with UEFA for international matches of the DFB men includes a total of 30 matches. Coverage will consists of UEFA Nations League games as well as preparation and qualification matches for UEFA EURO 2024, for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and for UEFA EURO 2028.

“Our audience can rely on us to provide journalistic coverage of the sporting events as usual,” said ARD sports rights director Tom Buhrow.

ZDF director-general Dr. Norbert Himmler added: “Beyond the European Championship 2024, we can now signal to our viewers: The matches of the German national teams, both men’s and women’s, will continue to be reliably broadcast by ARD and ZDF in the years to come. We are looking forward to the broadcasts of the matches and will offer our audience a varied programme with live matches, analyses and interesting discussions in the usual high journalistic quality.”
