Moonbug strikes expanded IPTV deal with Korea’s KT

Candle Media-owned kids content company Moonbug has expanded its distribution deal with South Korean operator KT, increasing the number of Moonbug properties available on KT’s IPTV platform Genie TV.

The additional content includes new episodes of Little Angel and the addition of CoComelon Dance PartyCoComelon Animal TimeCoComelon Cody TimeOdbodds S1, and Minibods. All content will be shown in English and Korean and is set to launch on August 18.

Moonbug said the agreement strengthens its existing deal with KT, which was formed in 2020, when KT premiered CoComelon on the IPTV platform. Last year, KT announced that CoComelon was the most-viewed program for children on KT’s Genie TV in 2022 while Little Angel ranked #3 on the platform.

The agreement will give Moonbug which has built its portfolio of properties through the acquisition of popular kids’ IP that was originally born in the digital space, expanded audience reach  in the Korean market to support its retail programmes in APAC. To date, the company has partnered with licensees covering a range of categories including toys, FMCG, apparel, publishing, party goods, and home products.
