WBD reports record streaming for Tour de France coverage

Sports media giant, Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe has revealed its coverage of the 2023 Tour de France has rose by a record of 12% year-on-year across all of its platforms.

Warner Bros. Discovery is currently still broadcasting  the Tour de France Femmes across Europe via discovery+ and Eurosport’s channels and platforms.

Discovery+ played a key part in driving engagement, with a 36% increase in viewers watching live and on-demand coverage of the event in 10 markets. including Germany and Austria for the first time.

Warner Bros. Discovery is covering each stage of the men’s and women’s race in Europe on Eurosport with streaming available for subscribers on discovery+, the Eurosport App and GCN+.

Tour de France content online on Eurosport.com also boosted attraction, with a rise of video consumption by almost a half  and an increase of visitors to Eurosport’s local language sites across Europe by almost a quarter.

Eurosport’s television coverage also grew by 3% year-on-year. WBD said the 2023 race was a record edition for viewership on Eurosport in Spain and the second best ever in France following 2022.

Following the first three stages of the Tour de France, total streaming audiences are up by 5% year-on-year, including discovery+ which has increased by 40%, and Eurosport’s television audience reach has risen by 18% compared to the first edition of the race held last year.
