Magnus Brooke takes on top strategic role at ITV ahead of ITVX launch

UK-based broadcaster and content studio ITV has promoted Magnus Brooke to the newly-created role of group director of strategy, policy and regulation.

Brooke was already on the ITV board as director of policy and regulation, but his expanded remit follows the departure of Dan Colton, the outgoing director of strategy and transformation at ITV. Brooke reports into ITV CEO Carolyn McCall, who said: “I’m really looking forward to working closely with Magnus in his new role. Magnus will oversee our policy and strategy teams as we drive the digital modernisation of the business while delivering enormous cultural, economic and democratic value as a Public Service Broadcaster in a rapidly changing environment.”

Brooke takes up his enlarged role as ITV prepares for the launch of ITVX, a new on-demand platform that will replace its existing ITV Hub offering. ITV is planning to launch the ITVX service on November 20, to coincide with the FIFA World Cup. ITVX will boast “a completely new technical and user-experience architecture”.

As part of the shake-up, Samir Ahmad has been promoted to director of group strategy and Gareth Barr becomes director of policy and regulation.
