BritBox confirms South Africa rollout for August 6

BritBox has confirmed its expansion into South Africa for August 6.

Announced earlier this year as part of a wider international push, the SVOD will enter its fifth worldwide territory, following successful launches in the US & Canada, the UK and Australia. The streamer will cost R99.99 per month for South African audiences, while customers who sign up for a one-year subscription at R999.90 will receive two months at no additional cost.

Commenting on the launch, BritBox CEO Reemah Sakaan said that the country has a “massive loyal fan base for British television” and that most of the content offered by the streamer will be exclusively available on BritBox.

She also noted that premieres will arrive on the service in South Africa “within hours of their UK transmission.”

Earlier this year, Martin Goswami, Group Strategic Partnership and Distribution Director at ITV, said: “The launch of BritBox in South Africa is yet another step in the platform’s trajectory towards international expansion. We’re delighted to bring the service to a brand new territory and continue towards establishing BritBox as a premium VOD brand across the world.”
