2021 ANGA COM postponed in favour of digital conference

2021’s iteration of ANGA COM will take place online, the event organiser has announced.

Amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and slow rollout of vaccinations across Europe, the event which typically takes place in Cologne will be postponed in favour of a digital alternative.

The organiser confirmed that the physical event will be pushed back to May 10-12 2022, while a new online congress dubbed ANGA COM DIGITAL will take place in its place on June 8-10.

ANGA COM said that this digital event will offer companies a chance to reach an international audience via a virtual conference programme, networking and digital showrooms.

Dr. Peter Charissé, managing director of ANGA COM, said: “It is still not foreseeable when international exhibitions will be permitted again and when the various travel restrictions will be lifted. Our ANGA COM stands not only for product presentations and business deals, but also for the industry “coming close” in the true sense of the word – and this in a relaxed and international atmosphere. Unfortunately, this cannot be guaranteed for 2021 with the necessary lead time.

“Therefore, we had to make the difficult, but from our point of view consistent decision for a renewed and longer-term postponement. We are looking forward to a brilliant comeback next year in May.”

The exec added that the digital conference will “offer the best possible alternative under the current conditions.”

With ANGA COM now off as a physical event, eyes turn to IBC in September and whether that will go ahead in its originally planned form. As DTVE revealed last month, IBC will decide by the end of June whether to go ahead with a hybrid four-day event in September or move it back to December.
