UK AVOD W4free boosts line-up with Signature titles

W4free, the UK AVOD streaming service launched last year as acquired 80 movies and mini-series from Signature Entertainment. Under the terms of the agreement, the titles will be added to the service beginning in August 2020.

Among the movies added to the service under the deal are Muriel’s Wedding, Contender, Pandemic, The Heist, Wakefield and The Professor.

The Signature Entertainment deal follows another recent movie package deal of over 100 titles.

Chris Sharp, chairman of W4Free, said: “Since our launch last November, we have been pleased with the growth in users on the platform. However, we could not have anticipated that we would experience a pandemic that would see millions of home-bound viewers discovering our service. These licensing deals bring a high level of quality to w4free and ensure there is always something exceptional to watch for free, whenever and wherever viewers chose to watch.”

W4free launched in the UK last November, offering a “curated mix of short form lifestyle, crime, movies and tv series.” Ad sales are handled by Sky Media.

The group behind the service, Philipp Rotermund’s Video Solutions AG, provides a range of AVOD and SVOD brands in Europe, including Watch4, available in Germany, Switzerland and Austria with a reach of 10 million people per month.
