Alchimie takes content from ORF for VOD channels

Streaming content enabler and aggregator Alchimie has struck an agreement with ORF-Enterprise, the marketer and distributor for the Austrian Public Broadcaster ORF.

The new deal allows Alchimie to distribute ORF-Enterprise’s catalogue of German language premium factual programming to Alchimie’s themed VOD channels, which are available on over 40 digital platforms and mobile networks across Europe. Including A1 in Austria, Vodafone in Germany and in Switzerland.

The agreement adds around 50 hours of German language premium programming to Alchimie’s library of 40,000 hours of multi-language factual content, which contributes to Alchimie’s portfolio of 150 or so VOD subscription channels across Europe.

Fred Rossignol, chief creative officer said: “We’re delighted to partner with a rights owner of ORF’s calibre. ORF is highly respected as the national broadcaster in Austria, in no small part because of its strong news, documentary and cultural programming. We’re in a fantastic position of being able to introduce these great shows to new German speaking audiences through our range of themed on-demand channels.”

Armin Luttenberger, head of content sales international at ORF-Enterprises, said: “As a member of Austria’s leading broadcaster we take our responsibility to our audiences very seriously, which is reflected in the quality of our programming. We’re proud of the amount of creativity, talent and research that go into each of our programmes, and excited to partner with Alchimie to introduce these shows to new VOD audiences keen to explore topics in more depth.”
