US studio Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) is rolling out a film and TV streaming service in Germany via local TV provider Zattoo.
The MGM SVOD will provide Zattoo subscribers with TV shows including The Handmaid’s Tale, comedy-drama series Get Shorty and movies such as Robocop, Terminator and 21 Jump Street.
The service will cost €3.99 ($4.50) a month and provide content dubbed into German and available in full HD.
MGM already provides its content on demand in Germany via Amazon Channels.
Earlier this year, the Fargo studio hired Rola Bauer as its president of international TV productions, reporting into MGM TV chairman Mark Burnett. She will be based in Munich but split her time between MGM’s European and US offices.
MGM’s SVOD expansion in Germany is the latest development in a flurry of streaming activity over recent months from IP owners. In April, Endemol Shine Group revealed it was launching an ad-supported scripted channel via Samsung’s TV Plus, offering shows such as Peaky Blinders, Real Humans and Gracepoint.
