Pluto launches pop-up channels in Germany and Austria

Viacom-owned AVOD Pluto has announced the launch of three new pop-up channels in Germany and Austria.

The channels will be entirely dedicated to one show each, showcasing Viacom’s entertainment brand portfolio. The first will be a channel dedicated to Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants to celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary, while the other two will air MTV shows The Hills and Teen Mom.

Olivier Jollet, managing director europe at Pluto TV, said: “We are celebrating two major series events with The Hills and SpongeBob SquarePants coming to Pluto TV. Both hit shows are truly an asset to our line-up, with their fascinating and inspiring charm appealing to our audiences’ nostalgia, serving the perfect mix to binge-watch.”

AVOD service Pluto TV launched in Germany and Austria in December of 2018. The platform offers linear channels that can be streamed free of charge without a subscription. Currently, the service offers subscribers in Germany and Austria access to over 30 channels, including curated thematically driven channels such as Pluto TV Movies and Pluto TV History as well as single show Pop-Up channels and branded channels such as Ice Pilots.
