Mediapro names new Italian chief

Spanish broadcaster and producer Mediapro has named Eugeni Sallent as head of its Italian operation.

Sallent, who previously headed up Mediapro’s Televideo operation in Colombia, will lead the group’s Rome and Milan-based operation in Italy. Prior to joining Mediapro, he worked in senior roles at Catalunya Radio and TV3, and headed up the launch of Catalan-language radio station RAC 1.

Sallent will be replaced as Colombia chief by Mauricio Correa. Correa is currently head of Latin American rights for Mediapro. His career includes stints as president of Win Sports, vice-president and director of programming and marketing at Sky Latin America and director of marketing content and new business at Telmex Colombia.

Mediapro last year struck a deal securing it rights to Serie A top-tier football in Italy, only to see the Italian football league revoke the deal following a complaint by Sky, and subsequently grant the key rights to Sky sports streaming service DAZN.
