Sky’s Austrian unit has made the Sky Kids app available free of charge to all contract customers. The app was previously reserved for those with a subscription to the Sky Entertainment package.
The app is available to all customers on I OS and Android devices, offering access to a selection of content.
Sky Q customers will see a new ‘kids mode’ activated on their boxes, providing a PIN-protected kids user interface that enables content available via the box to be restricted to children’s shows. The kids mode remains active even if the box is switched off , and can only be deactivated by re-entering the PIN.
Julia Laukemann, SVP of product management at the pay TV operator said that the app provided a simple, child-friendly environment high-quality content and enabled kids to have access to selected programmes.
