The launch of RTL UHD on Magenta TV will bring additional sports, series and movies in the format to Telekom’s subscribers, kicking off with the run-up to and broadcast of yesterday’s Formula 1 Grand Prix from Abu Dhabi.
The RTL UHD offering will include all football matches aired on RTL next year including selected UEFA Europa League matches.
Entertainment available in 4K UHD will include RTL drama Sankt Maik.
Magenta TV’s UHD offering currently includes on-demand services Videoload, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube as well as content from Sky. To receive 4K UHD TV, customers must have signed up to a MagentaZuhause plan that in includes 100Mbps downstream internet access.
“We are delighted with this cooperation with RTL MedienGruppe. We are offering our customers even more UHD entertainment. This is how we live up to the claim to provide our customers with the best TV experience,” said Deutsche Telekom head of TV Wolfgang Elsäßer.
Last month Deutsche Telekom revamped its domestic TV service, changing its name from Entertain TV to Magenta TV and introducing a new user interface and more on-demand content.
