Concurrent launches MediaScaleX

Vecima-owned media delivery and storage specialist Concurrent Technology has launched MediaScaleX, described as a hyperscale platform suite built to deploy and scale video across multiple CDNs, regardless of their environment – cloud, virtualized, hosted and private network architectures.

Built on Concurrent’s deployed systems – Aquari Storage, Laguna Cache, Zephyr Origin Packager, and Zephyr Transcode – the MediaScaleX platform enables customers take advantage of both public and private networks for media distribution over the internet, according to the company. Concurrent’s latest offering features algorithms that choose the most cost-effective path for every packet, enabling customers to deliver more content, faster while controlling costs. Available as a whole or as individual products integrated in new or existing environments, the MediaScaleX product family includes four key elements.

MediaScaleX // Storage is the next generation of Concurrent’s Aquari storage platform that can be deployed on any number of hardware platforms and can use any combination of spinning disks, SSDs and the latest non-volatile memory express (NVMe) drives, according to Concurrent.

MediaScaleX // Transcode is a software platform providing audio and video content processing. MediaScaleX // Origin allows users to also package their OTT programming using DASH and CMAF as well as HLS. Finally, MediaScaleX // Cache supports simultaneous delivery to mobile devices and smart TVs and set-top boxes.

“Over 20 years ago, Concurrent redefined the way content was distributed and viewed all over the world, creating new revenue sources for content owners and service providers, as well as more access than ever to content for consumers. Today, more than 25 of our customers, across five continents, have a platform in place to embrace the rapidly changing environment from content creation to consumption,” said Clay McCreery, chief revenue officer at Concurrent.

Concurrent will debut MediaScaleX at IBC on stand 1.D92.
