TiVo has appointed Ericsson TV executive Roz Ho as senior vice president and general manager, consumer and metadata.

Ho will lead the consumer and metadata teams, overseeing TiVo’s product roadmaps, managing business operations and partnering with TiVo’s business groups.

Reporting directly to TiVo executive vice president and chief operating officer, Pete Thompson, she will be based at the company’s San Jose office.

“Roz brings extensive experience managing engineering teams and the incubation of key product launches, making her an especially good fit for this executive position at TiVo,” said Thompson.

“Her impressive corporate background, leading large global teams and driving the delivery of prized software and services will be key to this role and we’re pleased to have her on-board to further our consumer and metadata businesses.”

Ho joins from Ericsson, where she was head of product management for Ericsson TV and the company’s video products including Mediaroom, MediaFirst and Content Management System.

Prior to joining Ericsson in 2013 she held various roles at Microsoft, including corporate vice president of premium mobile experiences and general manager of Microsoft’s Macintosh business unit.

“TiVo has an industry-leading metadata catalogue, strong industry partnerships and an innovative product line, which puts the company in a unique position to help the media industry deliver TV and video experiences to people in the modern world,” said Ho.

Last week Ericsson announced a large company refocus that will see it “explore strategic opportunities” for its media business while developing its media solutions. It said it will now create two separate units, Ericsson Broadcast & Media Services and Ericsson Media Solutions, to create a “stronger operational focus”.
