NBCU’s Hayu to launch offline viewing, Apple TV support

HAYU_SIZZLE_IPAD_4_DEVICENBCUniversal International’s subscription video-on-demand service, Hayu, is due to add offline viewing options and is set to launch on Apple TV.

From the fourth quarter, viewers will be able to download shows from the Hayu and watch them wherever they are, without needing to be connected to the web.

The service will also be available to download from the Apple TV App store in Q4 in the three markets where Hayu is currently available – the UK, Ireland and Australia.

This latest milestone is a testament to our dual goal of growing reach and distribution while constantly innovating the Hayu experience,” said Hendrik McDermott, SVP, branded on-demand, NBCUniversal.

“In the six months since launch, users have made it clear that they want the ability to access content wherever they are and that they crave the ability to easily stream Hayu to a large screen. We are delighted to make Hayu episodes available for offline viewing and be available across a broader number of platforms.”

Hayu launched earlier this year as a one-stop shop for NBCUniversal’s reality TV content – offering 3,000 episodes of programmes like Keeping Up with the Kardashians, The Real Housewives and Top Chef.

The service costs £3.99 in the UK, €4.99 inIreland and AU$5.99 in Australia and is available on a range of devices and through partnerships with Virgin Media in the UK and Foxtel in Australia.
